He didn't know what to say.
Ze never had a way with words, being the type to pick his very carefully and often, coming out very neutral in sense- but that didn't change the fact for his passionate self hiding under the surface. In touch with his emotions, while words failed him, his face was a like a open book and didn't hide the hurt, confusion or happiness from his expressions; maybe that's why people pegged him 'cry-baby' when young, among other nicknames that left him with a sour-taste in his mouth?
A part of him knew that he hurt the blond in more ways than one, maybe sometimes fooled himself into thinking that Alex creshired their friendship together as he did. And still do. Asked him a few years ago, he would've given a confident Yes to that answer, the only thing he could be confident about but now? The friendship might of moved into the hate spectrum. And after what happen today? Definitely. Austin ruined any chance of rekindling of a friendship- even though, no attempt so far from Ze's part, he regretfully admit and shamed because of it. As far as Ze knew, Alex and him were something special, something that didn't shake off as easily; he wasn't a man of religion, but Ze didn't deny the existence of faith. And in his mind, every time they pass by each other on the street or he thumbed through an old photo album with the very few but priceless photos of the two, it might of been faith giving him a little nudge to do something.
As if his heart caught up in his throat, no words would come out at first. Alex turned away, and for a few second- arms were laid useless to his sides, watching him briskly walk away with anger in his strides. Ze almost did go back to his friends, at that moment- there a fleeting moment of doubt, that maybe it was best he kept to his world and not try to bring back the past, maybe he should give up the childhood crush that didn't wither away so easily? Maybe, but...
"Wait, Alex, please!" He started to jog after him, not wanting to walk out of his view and out of his life for second time in a row, "Alex, listen please. I'm sorry... I'm sorry, they're usually aren't like... Alex." As he spoke, there was a slight quiver to his voice, as he tried to kill the distance in between them. "Just a s-second, please- then let me say something." There was a pause. "Alex, I... m-missed you. " He felt frantic, swallowing back the urge to run up and tackle the other, just to make him stop for a second. Just for the world to stop a second but as more words left his mouth, he felt meeker and weaker, getting lost in the chatter in the crowd. "D-Don't walk away, I missed you. Alex, please." The words started to have effects on him, but he pushed the tears back and focused on the blond head of hair ahead of him. Thank God for longer legs, or by now he would of lost him. Don't leave me just yet.
