♦ MONETARY SYSTEM ♦
As you've probably noticed, there's onsite money. But what can you do with this? You can, of course, buy things. Lots of things. Lots of glorious things for your character.
It's a feature implemented into the site so not everyone sends their character storming into the streets with an M60 and firing up everything in sight like Rambo. Your character need weapons, the need to repair weapons, they need ammo, they need arrows, they might want a nicer place to live, they might want a pet or a horse, they might have to feed said pet or horse, they might want to grow their own food or they might be a smoker. And for all that (and more!) they need money.
Money can be earned through just posting, your character can take missions and on completion of the mission they take they can expect, in most cases, a monetary award and they can sell items that are no longer useful to them to other members or back to the shop (for a grossly low price). If you want your money to be safe from random happenings of a Horde post, keep it in your wallet where you can get an interest from it. The admins can give away money too if you make a suggestion for the site that we take into consideration.
Money makes the world go round and, apparently, even after a zombie apocalypse too!
To keep track of the items your character purchases, finds, and is gifted by the admin, you're going to have to make an inventory. It's up to you and only you to keep this updated. If you buy something from the General Store you don't have to wait for an admin to update the shopping thread for you to add it to your inventory, just go ahead and add it straight after you post your purchase. There are a small variety of items that can be found on this site and they're grouped up in these categories:
There's three ways to acquire items on the site: buying through the General Store, buying through member created market stalls in the Marketplace or finding items in a thread.
If you make a purchase in the General Store, you can add whatever you buy straight away to your inventory and we'll update your money when we get a chance to (just make sure you have it on hand and not in your bank). You can resell to the General Store but at a criminally low price. Carl, the guy who runs the place, is a pure blood capitalist and will take no haggling whatsoever on items. It's 'take it or leave it' with him.
If you buy anything through a member owned market stall you have to wait until the member using it replies with their okay (or not) until you're free to use whatever you bought. The member who owns the stall has to post in the 'Updates' thread for the admins to realise the money transaction.
And, lastly, finding items. This one's simple. You can only find items that are shown to you through a Horde post, end of story. You can't magically find a crowbar and a horse if there's no mod post stating that it's there.

♦ ITEMS & INVENTORIES ♦
To keep track of the items your character purchases, finds, and is gifted by the admin, you're going to have to make an inventory. It's up to you and only you to keep this updated. If you buy something from the General Store you don't have to wait for an admin to update the shopping thread for you to add it to your inventory, just go ahead and add it straight after you post your purchase. There are a small variety of items that can be found on this site and they're grouped up in these categories:
♦ FOOD:
You're going to start with three food rations after being accept and, after that, you're on your own. Food is rather inexpensive but you're going to spend a ration per thread. It doesn't matter what kind of food you buy, your character can even eat dog food for all we care (yes, dog food is considered a food ration if they're desperate or, y'know, if they dig that kind of gourmet grub). On making a thread, either buy a food ration or subtract one from your inventory. Your character can buy cheap seeds which, after a period of a week, turn into vegetables which, yes, is a food ration that you can use yourself, sell through the Marketplace or sell back to the shop (if you want to be ripped off).♦ WEAPONS:
We've got ranged weapons and melee weapons. Ranged weapons, like guns and bows, need ammunition, like bullets and arrows. These need to be bought if you're going zombie killing or you're gonna have a bad time. You keep track of the bullets and arrows you spend per thread yourself. Melée weapons obviously don't need ammunition so they don't have that added expense. Bear in mind that all weapons break! And willneed repairing after so many uses in threads!♦ CLOTHING:
Just a nice, little perk for your character. Items like roller-blades, bulletproof vests, kneepads and other gear with a useful purpose is worth looking at investing in though.♦ ANIMALS:
It gets lonely on the other side of the wall or maybe you just can't stand other people and would prefer a dog to talk to. You can buy animals but, to use them in a thread, you have to buy a ration of food for them. A pet isn't just for company either, sometimes they can have their uses like riding a horse to get through streets quickly or a dog that barks when it smells danger nearby. Pets can die at the hands of the Horde account though so beware, while they won't die from a bite (animals are seem to be immune to the virus), they can easily die from blood loss.♦ MEDICAL:
Anything medical related will be sorted under this category. If your character sustains an injury of some sort it'd be handy to have some bandages and peroxide on hand so they don't catch something nasty. Although rare, there's vaccinations for the virus afflicting the country and if applied very shortly after a bite, it can stop the propagation of the virus throughout the body but it does not grant immunity to future infection. ♦ OTHER:
Everything else falls under this category, miscellaneous things like cigarettes and alcohol. If you want your character to sate their vices, you've gotta buy them the stuff first. If an apocalypse isn't enough for your character to kick the habit, who knows what will be enough.♦ SHOPS ♦
